Speaking only from my own experience.
I use a Yoco credit card machine because it was a once off cost, i.e no monthly fees. It was a no brainer to integrate with the website having one management portal because i use the card machine.
I use Wordpress with Woocommerce so integration and management super easy.
The three most important factors for me.
1. Cost - knowing the % fee, with no monthly or other cost.
2. Ease of integration.
