    Debit order

Admin, Please delete if this is not appropriate.

My daughter is starting grade 8 next year at a new school (private). The school insists on a debit order instruction being completed. Is this legal?

With her current school all I needed to do is inform the school that I will EFT the fees when due and they accepted this, same with my sons school. (Both private school if that matters).

    Thanks
    Kavesh

Hopefully you meant "...if this is not appropriate".

Actually, I think it's a really good question.

        Thanks Greig.

The reason I asked is because there was a change to recent legislation regarding tenants and landlords, who could no longer force their tenants to agree to a debit order arrangement. Evidently this must be peculiar to that industry then.

Nobody can force anyone to sign a debit order. If your school (or any other service provider) insists on a debit order, you can either agree to their terms or use a provider that doesn't insist on it.
