My client makes jewellery and wishes to sell to international clients via her website. Will she need an export license when shipping these items to her clients?
I am not familiar with cross border sales.
I am not sure if a licence is required for exporting jewellery. I doubt it, but this can be checked with the freight forwarder she chooses to use.
She will most likely need to register for an exporters number though. Again her shipper / freight forwarder should be able to help there or she can check on the SARS website.
Yep require an 'import code" which also serves as an exporter's code, and is applied for at SARS

If you are VAT registered, then there is a time when you do charge VAT and a time you do not charge VAT.
If the client collects from you, the client pays VAT, and gets his refund at the point of departure. If a shipping company collects on the clients behalf, then it is a zero rated invoice, because the shipper is taking the goods directly out the country.
Just remember, when the foreign payment comes, you have to fill in a number of forms at the bank( and do a few jumps over some hoops to make all feel happy )
FNB email me the forms which I fill in, scan and return.

I am in manufacturing and we buy some of our ingredients and material in dollars, and our international clients pay us in dollars. What will save us more money in foreign exchange, foreign currency account or Virtual currency payments.
