Imports from China

I have a nephew that is currently teaching English at a private school in China. He has a bit of time on his hands and have successfully "scoped" out two exporters for me thus far and is the go-between for us and an exporter of valves and seals that want to come in to the SA market.

I was wondering if he could not market his services here in SA. I know a lot of people are reluctant to import from China because of all the scams going around. Maybe he can offer a service where he goes to a certain supplier on the clients request and maybe even check for certain specifications on products etc.

Any thoughts/comments?

Most definitely - oI do think there are a lot of people that do that tho, but no reason why he can't as well. A friend of myne has got a connection like that - he travels the whole of Asia and Europe sourcing products for the SA market, starts relationships with suppliers and acts as the go between.

Just consider that any import that competes unfairly with a South African manufacturer has the potential to destroy jobs. Those jobless people then become a burden on the rest of the taxpaying public.

We should not just think of making a fast buck. We all know what happened to our textile industry.

I think you misunderstood the post. We are not importing anything. We are offering a service to people who wants to import, like address verification and specification testing etc.
