    Reliable wood worker

    Hi guys
We are trying to get wooden pine cubes 22mm in all dimensions.
This is for a new product we got some one to cut some for us while the 2 dimensions are fine as you can buy 22 x 22 x 2000mm wood the other dimension differs so much it looks terrible.

While we are testing and protyping the product we need someone reliable to make consistent blocks for us as we don't want to cut wood in a printshop.

Does anyone have a quality supplier in JHB who can do this.

After seeing this I can believe the legend behind Jenga blocks were a bunch of guys were asked to cut block to certain dimensions and the inconsistent Jenga block was made.

The problem is that they use a table saw to do it and of course humans don't like to do lots of repetitive work so they mess it up. I suggest that you have it done on a CNC router. Buy a sheet of wood the is 22mm thick that is say 300mm wide and say 1m long.

The panel is then CNC cut though lengthwise and width wise. the trick is to leave tiny tags, say .7 mm thick and 1mm wide on the corners so that the blocks stay inside the panel. If you don't leave the little tags then the blocks will come loose during the last cut and get chopped up by the cutter. All you then need to do is to cut the tags free with a scalpel.

If you don't get what I am on about then I can quickly draw a model so that you can see.

Take a look at Gumtree. There are usually people that advertise the service.
