If it is in pdf format, maybe I can be of assistance, I do have a couple of nice applications to reduce file size and to convert it maybe into another type of file that might not be as big. Just give me a holler
But those files are in the range of 5-20meg....there are quite a lot of them, but that doesn't seem THAT big, or am I missing something? Although the server space would fill quite quickly with the sheer volume of it all.
I don't know if you've noticed how Yahoo spiders tend to swarm... and 50 x 20 meg files is a Gig. Not so bad on server storage space, but seriously gobbling bandwidth (the real cost to this - thanks Telkom).
With the actual copy being available on a server already, the trick would be to have a searchable index that would point a person in the right direction. The current location is not exactly browse friendly unless you know the specific date and the Gazette number.

I kinda clicked that after posting
I suppose the trick then is to just figure out what each one is. I'm going to PE this weekend and have access to unlimited bandwidth there....could do some downloading?
As something ongoing, I'm thinking along the lines of putting the right tools in place and then we can spread the load. Do we go with the flexibility of the wiki - where we can set up a template structure for this, or use the links manager - which would be a touch more user friendly in terms of input, but harder to set up an effective search mechanism?
Funny thing about talking it through. I think I just answered my own question.
The copies of GG's that I have downloaded from the web were huge - in excess of 4 Megs for around 18 pages. Have the government ever heard about optimizing? Would be interested in having access to all the GG's in electronic format. Keep me up to date of developments please!
