You've just got to love this quote from Alec Erwin in a report by Mweb on why Eskom has a power crisis:

"The underestimation of economic growth and the consequential underinvestment in infrastructure in the first decade of governance has required us to adjust and accelerate the implementation of Eskom's build plan," said the minister.

Was the mothballing of plants more in line with their expectations?

I don't understand how this caught them by surprise as from 1998 they have added close to the 700 000 new connections in SA, didn't they notice the increased turnover.
