You basically have to compete for the job in question, to increase your chances bid on jobs that you know you can do well, you have the necessary skills and samples if needed.
Getting freelance work requires some work, patience and determination, once you land a few jobs and do them well, you will have feedback at that site and you will find that employers will trust you more and you will begin to get a lot of work in the future. The tricky part is just landing your first job, once you have enough feedback you will be just fine. Also do your home, read the terms for the site, if they offer tests to prove your skills, I'd suggest you take them and score as high as possible, see what other bidders are putting forward and get ideas from that.
