I have identified a niche market for an online business. The website will be an information portal which will need a huge searchable data-base. Can anyone refer me to a webpage development company that specialises in data-base web sites and that doesn't charge 2 arms an 4 legs to set it up

If you need custom from the ground up you're going to pay a lot more than 2 arms and 4 legs.

There are all sorts of information management software applications out there already. For example, have you looked at mediawiki? It's pretty customisable and it's hard to beat the price! (It's free ).
