    Do you know where the pictures from your site come from?

    Guys, be very very careful. As the site owner you will be liable if you do not own the right to any picture that displays on your website - there is even a case on an RSS feed. And getty images ect will charge you an arm and a leg.

    As said - the SITE owner will be liable - not the person that made the site, so if you have had a site built ask the designer where they got the images from. Do not think your site is too small to be noticed - they use a robotic crawler similar to google to even spot PARTS of a picture.

    There's 'fair use' rules that apply and also the DMCA compliance can be met if you have a take-down policy.

      Just to add to this, if you do need nice images but can't afford stock photography, Flickr has a LOT of images under Creative Commons licenses.

      Search for your subject on Flickr.com, then go to "Advanced Search" and turn "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content" as well as "Find content to use commercially" on.

      You'll be shown only images that you're allowed to use, and you can check each of them for their specific license details. Usually an attribution (e.g., "Photo by {link_to_profile}, some rights reserved") alone is enough.
