[Question] Google Adsense

Hello Everyone,

I have a few questions about Google Adsense,

1. What is the best method to setup the account as, a business account or a personal account? (It will be for a business website, but they say you cannot change the details later

2. What are the tax implications of receiving money from Google Adsense locally? Do you declare it as a business expense? or do you just keep it as personal income?

Any advise would be appreciated

But you could always open another Adsense account in another name (as long as it's to a different postal address and email address) and change the publisher codes on the website(s) showing the ads.

2. What are the tax implications of receiving money from Google Adsense locally? Do you declare it as a business expense income? or do you just keep it as personal income?

You're taxed locally (in SA), and the payments are made to you from Google (ex Ireland) without any tax deduction. Ultimately whether you do it in the business name or in your name, I'd suggest you treat it as a business (i.e. claim relevant expenses off the income).

Hi Dave,

Just a quick 1, did you put your PO Box address in where it asks for street address in the application? Reason I ask is they only ask for a street address and not a postal in the application process.

I put in my P.O. Box address.

Not sure if you can still give your PO Box. I signed up 9 years ago so I wont know but as far as I heard you can now only use a physical address
