    So disappointed and desperate

I have been selling private stuff on Gumtree for 5 years now, why doesn't Gumtree have like "buyers feedback/comments" or "sellers credibility system" to show people how honest and reliable I am? So disappointed....

I base in Pretoria, but I wish to sell stuff nationwide. Why can't Paypal be used in ZAR? So desperate....

Why online business is so fall behind in South Africa? Can anyone answer this question for me?

Nicki, you need to use Bid Or Buy. Gumtree isn't designed to do what you want it to. Gumtree is purely a localized service. We sell via BoB and local customers do EFT's into our account. International customers pay us via Paypal. We've never had problems with, BoB or Paypal.

Feel free to contact me then I'll explain to you how to use both service. PM me and I'll give you my telephone details.

Niki, the system that you are looking for is PayFast. Go to www.payfast.co.za

It is essentially PayPal inside South Africa. Bid or Buy also has a payment system that is available to you.

Thanks I went through www.payfast.co.za, but seems it does not involve dispute resolution, does it?

I can't say whether it has dispute resolution but I must be honest, I have been trading on BOB, Ebay, Gumtree and Paypal for a long time (I've bought and sold a lot of stuff) and I've never had to resort to dispute resolution. I think that one should simply be vigilant in each transaction. I've had one or two customers try to get clever, I can think is one individual who is just a nasty piece of work, but I simply refuse to deal with him, he is welcome to go somewhere else. It is interesting to note that the argument we had was not about payment or lack thereof. I sell quality products to quality customers and considering that he is a twat, he simply doesn't get to buy my products.

I'm so eager to expand my business, and a secure payment method will remove the buyers doubts and increase the sales. That's why I'm looking for service like Paypal. I'm thinking as if I am the buyer, dispute resolution will greatly protect the buyers' rights.

I suppose it depends on what you are selling and at what price. We generally sell products that cost between R600 & R14,000. I think the most important thing is to communicate with the customer and to ensure that the customer gets a fair deal. I've p1$$ed a couple of customers off with bad service but I've always tried to make up for it. The point that I am trying to make is that your customers should never need to resort to such measures.
