    Inflation slowing

Some good news on the inflation front - Inflation slows more than expected.

I wonder how our GDP is doing, though.

I disagree with some of the comments in that publication. Inflation has been high Not because of demand but because of increases in essential products and services like petrol, electricity, food. Also I don't see sarb cutting interest rates because inflation has to go be very low which is not the case and if they cut rates demand will increase and inflation will go over 6% again and that is not the aim of the sarb. This is purely my opinion and only time will tell thou

Only my humble opinion, but I suspect that inflation figures are being manipulated and that interest rates are kept artificially low. Inflation also differs between the elite and the working class as they do not buy the same goods etc.

It's certainly good news to a point but I wouldn't hold my breath for an interest rate cut based on just this. On the brighter side it should mean we won't get the rate rise they were talking about only a couple of months ago.

There's a large fuel price drop coming next month which should help most people more in the short term than a small interest rate adjustment. This in turn might help with inflation if the price stays lower.

And the teachers ask why does inflation always come down in May during salary negotiations? Saw this on FB last night.

Because of the damage done to the economy by disruptive civil servants strikes?
