[Question] Please help - Pastel Year End process

Somehow my brain has gone into a knot - I want to do the Year End process in Pastel (Express2004). I will copy the relevant company, for continuity and reference - but then should I run the Year End in the new company or the copied company? What are the advantages/disadvantages of either? Hope someone can help, thanks very much.

Thanks very much, looking forward to hearing from you. I'm rather an 'appie' book-keeper, so sometimes get a bit stuck as to what is the best way to deal with certain things, particularly in light of audits etc.

        Hi Jo,

Sorry about the delay in responding - I have been on the road most of the day.

Just to be clear that we are on the same page here, let me use an example. Say, for example, your existing company (for the 2011/2012 financial year) is named ABC_COY. Then, as you mentioned, copy ABC_COY, and rename it to ABC_COY12 (to signify that it relates to the Feb 2012 year-end). Then run the year end in ABC_COY.

It's really up to your personal preference. I prefer the method above, as it means that my live company has always got the same name, which has certain benefits, such as backups (which might point to a specific path), and external data links, such as ODBC queries.
