[Question] Pastel Xpress Version 17 Backup help needed

    Hi,

I did a back up (which my accountants used to do VAT - so it was done correctly). Then had my pc reloaded. Now I need to restore this backup but I dont get the options as listed in most of the Google articles. When in Pastel I only have File - Open, New and Delete. When adding a company I only have Locate Server as an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    * Was something deleted when my pc was reloaded? Do I need to add any ODBC entries?

You will need to do the following:

Unzip the backup file in Windows, by right-clicking the backup file and selecting "Extract All".

Rename the company folder name by removing the date/time stamp information.

Move the company folder into your Xpress17 folder.

Open Pastel and then select Add Company and select the company folder.

Hi Neville :-) Did the extract, remove date etc and moved into Xpress12 folder. When I open Pastel and select Open, Add Company and select the company folder "OK" stays greyed out

Perhaps when you reinstalled Pastel onto your PC, it did not install the later build of V17 that you previously had installed. The backup file will indicate what build of V17 was being used when it was created. Compare that build number to the one that you have reinstalled by going to Help...About in Pastel.

I re-registered, closed and restarted. Now it is giving me the option to follow Neville's first response BUT I can not add another company "it says I have exceeded the number allowed" and when I try to activate my company again it says "the computer name you have entered is incorrect"
