    [Question] Cashbook balance Differs

    Good day

    Can someone please assist.
I've just updated my November cashbook.
I've noticed that my cashbook details via the bank reconciliation function together with my FNB bank statement balances 100%
When I however opened my cashbook to process entries, the balance is less with a R4000 difference as per my bank statement and cashbook details.
I went to check from March up until November and it all balances 100%.
When I process bank reconciliation it says all entries has been reconciled.
I've printed all cashbook details, and the opening and closing balance is exactly the same as my captured entries and bankstatement.
Why when I opened my cashbook it is now sitting at a completely different figure?

    Will appreciate someone's soonest response

    Kind Regards

Hi Marley29 - did you perhaps do any journal entries which may have affected the Bank balance?

      Hi Mike

      Thanks for your reply

I did journal entries but it was a huge amount.
I went and checked my entries and there seems to be no discrepancy.
The figure I'm missing is exactly R4305.85 less than my actual bank statement balance and reconciliations.
Any way I can pass a entry for this amount to get my cashbook balance up to date as per my bank/reconciliations without affecting it ? Or

The only thing that I can think was that an amount done through a journal entry was contra'd against the Bank account Ledger. If that happens, then the balance of the Cash Book changes without being reflected in the cash book. Usually when that is done Pastel has a warning screen that pops up telling you that it is going to happen.

          Hi Mike

          Thank you.This makes sense.
I however had no warning of any sort.
I will recheck and revert back with the outcome

          Regards
