    Pastel Xpress problem.Periods gone!

    Hi everyone.

I hope somebody can help me please. My problem is as follows:

On Friday, the 22nd, i did my VAT, nothing wrong there. After printing my tax report i wanted to print my income statement. I immediately saw that it was not correct. I decided to check my cashbook and found out that period 0ne and two was gone. Nothing. The only info on my cashbook was that of period 3 and 4. That was the periods i just completed. I then had a look at the individual accounts. Same problem there. No data of periods 1 and 2.

Luckily i did not do a backup and decided to restore my backup that was done on 24/05/2016. After the restore process my account is still the same. Only periods 3 and 4 that was completed last friday so i presume that the restore did not work as well.

I have used Pastel for years and never had this problem before. I might just add that when i did my VAT in May for periods 1 and 2 everything was updated and tax report printed correctly.

Anybody please help because i have ran out of options.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Doepie,

The best person to help you with this problem is probably Neville Bailley who is a member of this forum and is an expert on Pastel. What I would try in the mean time, is to goto "File" and run "Data Integrity" click next and run the "Verify Data Only". If there is a problem there, then Neville is definitely the man to contact.

      Hi Doepie,

I've just stumbled onto your post now.

Have you done as Mike suggested?

Drop me a line if you would like to set up a TeamViewer session to see what the problem could be.

        Hallo Mike and Neville.

Thank you both for your replies. Mike i have done what you suggested but according to Pastel there is no problem with the data files. Neville i dont know how the Teamviewer thing work. If you can maybe, for a start, just help me to get my backup restored, then i will book the last 2 periods again. Do not know what else i can do. Will wait for your advice.

        Thanks

          Hi Doepie,

TeamViewer is a free program that allows someone else to log onto your computer remotely over the internet, with your permission of course. If you had TeamViewer on your computer, I can view your computer screen as though I was sitting next to you in front of your computer, which is great for troubleshooting problems like you have.

You can download and install TeamViewer, free of charge, from www.teamviewer.com.

I suggest that you do so, and then give me a call on 082 456 7881, and I will tell you what to do next in order to get me connected to your computer. We can then figure out what the problem is with your Pastel system.

                Hi Neville,

Can you please help me? I have started a new pastel. When processing my cashbook the vat column is shaded. I did go to settings and the tax processing option is ticked, but i cannot change the tax type. Do you have any solution for me?

                Kind regards
                Belinda

                  Hi Belinda,

Perhaps you have not enabled VAT processing in your company setup.

Go to Setup...Tax and then General Settings and open the Parameters tab.

In the "Tax System" field, make sure it is not set to "Do Not Use Tax".
