    [Question] Pastel: Open Company Problem

    Hi All, hope some-one can advise:

    I have a client using Pastel Express, when I choose open a Company the Dialog box is Empty. When I press the Manage Button the next Dialog Window is also empty. But the Company that was created is in the Pastel Folder. And Pervasive Database is running. What causes this problem and how can I resolve it.

    Hi Elijah,

    Is the second dialog window completely empty? If so, then try the following:

    Click on the Locate Server, and then browse to the Pastel folder, then to the Custom folder and then to the Registration folder.

    If that does not activate the company database, in which case you will get a message to the effect that the server is not registered, then it is possible that the computer has been renamed recently.

    Pastel's registration credentials are a function of:
    • The serial number;
    • The registered name;
    • The computer name.

    If either of the above three factors have changed, then you will not see the company database on the menu. If the computer has been renamed, then I suggest that you change it back to what it was.

          This solved the problem. Some-one had inadvertently, pressed the delete Server button.

            Hi,

            I have the same problem after a windows update.
            I went in to custom folder and clicked registration and all my files are there and show as added but as soon as I click close it all disappears again.

            Please help.

              I presume you upgraded to Windows 8.1?

              If so, then have a look at the attachment - it should be self-explanatory.

                Hi

                I have a similar issue. The solutions suggested in this thread, unfortunately, did not work in my case.

                Is it feasible to delete the companies from the server, recreate them and restore from a backup?

                I have Pastel Express 11 Build 11.1.2 and Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.17763 (Build 17763).

                      Hi, we are using Pastel Express. I installed it on my Laptop (windows 10) located and registered the product but when I want to add a company, I go to the respective folder and click on it, but the OK button is greyed out. The other computers on the network work fine and I am able to add the previous year's companies, but not the current one. Will appreciate some help.

                        A bit late on the reply, but for others experiencing the same issue in future, ask the other users to log out of Xpress and then add the company. Sometimes the ~pvsw~.loc file (created when users on workgroup access database) can prevent you from adding the company.
