The eFiling online application for VAT registration was declined and the client was requested to go to a SARS branch to obtain a VAT number.
Could this be because the company's ITR14 and IRP6 returns are not up to date?
The eFiling online application for VAT registration was declined and the client was requested to go to a SARS branch to obtain a VAT number.
Could this be because the company's ITR14 and IRP6 returns are not up to date?
It could be for any number of reasons.
Sometimes it does "a half" registration and requires you to only take specified documents to the local branch.
In my experience: the branch literally laughed at me and it turned out I had to meet ALL of the manual application requirements. When I pointed out what the efiling letter said, they literally told me that efiling has got blow all to do with their procedures. To crown it all, their requirements are considerably in excess of those stipulated on the VAT101 form.
In a nutshell, it was a total waste of time, frustrating in the extreme, and this buffoons did absolutely everything to make it as difficult as possible to register. It took all of 3 months to simply satisfy the documentation requirements. Even PAYE registration turned into a nightmare of note.

Thanks for the heads up! Was thinking of getting the Income Tax up to date and trying again. If that doesn't work I'll have to endure the torture
