Well in the end it will be illegal to think for yourself. But while it is still legal; think about what was changed and why?

Now it is true that some structures needed change others didn’t...

Best intentions that got reemed by politics, biased members of the public being called in as chief witnesses/experts, and legislation.

See how stupid we have become!
Or now the truth is out as to why Johnny felt better back in 1957

    Great post, Sean

Makes you think - EMO kids are a fairly recent phenomenon...
(Not that there is anything wrong with EMO kids if you happen to be one/parent of one... )
The trouble with opportunity is it normally comes dressed up as work.

This one is really close to home. My son disrupted the class and Ritalin was suggested by the school. Knowing parents of kids who are on ritalin and what it does to them I decided against it and over the last year my son settled down without drugs. He was going through the 15/16 year old phase and had to be shown how to handle life without drugs etc.

It just takes patience, love and firm boundaries.

    This is unbelievable !!

What makes them qualified to make a suggestion like this ??

Unfortunately, they seem to be using the "Turn them all into Zombies" approach to make their teaching jobs easier. Doesn't seem to matter what's right for the child.

Let me rephrase that, I was suggested to go and see a doctor to check if Ritalin would be effective for my son. That is more accurate.

And it wasn't only the High School that suggested this but also the primary school my son was at previously. They just have so many kids in each class with 'huge' personalities that the teachers can't cope anymore. 36 children in each class and most of them were the spoiled male children who are treasured and pampered at home so have the attitudes to match....

I don't blame the teachers for thinking or suggesting the easy option first but I do blame the parents for not thinking things through and how that drug would affect the kids in the long run and then taking a stand against the abuse of the drug.

Hey don't get me wrong, Ritalin actually works wonders on those who have genuine problems and really and truly need it. But the side effects could be far worse that the good the drug does for others.

Oops, sorry. I'd better get off my high horse again. )

The more power we willingly hand over to the govt, the more power they will exercise.

We have freely given away the right to educate our own children, the right to decide who and how we marry, the right to decide where we will or will not work, the right to decide who will will or will not emply, etc. etc. ad nauseum!!

The creation of a "nanny state" is NOT the fault of the govt, put purely the fault of the electorate. We are too wrapped up in our own tiny little worlds to be involved in the lives of those around us, and I mean here our own children, let alone our street, our neighbourhood, our suburb!!

It is FAR too easy to take the cop out and "let someone else take care of the problem," and then suddenly when it's too late we wake up and wonder why we can only use the crapper on a tuesday, and get some nookie on alternate thursdays...

This is very sadly a self inflicted phenomenon...
