How many of you saw the movie 'Noise'. Its about a guy who is driven nuts by car alarms and eventually sorts that problem out by attaching different loud alarms to a truck and parking outside the mayors office.

Now how many of you saw the article on the Taxi 'no noise' campaign in Durban. The campaign was prompted by complaints first received three years ago. It would appear that the campaign came about as a result of the mayor and town clerk not enjoying their office windows rattling and doors vibrating from noisy taxi's driving past the city hall. Seems they have to actually experience what the community is getting before anything gets done.

Related to this, they have set aside R2.2 bars to train owners, drivers and rank managers in customer care and relations. OK - so who does not know how to turn that knob on the left side of that thing to the left and make the sound go down? I would have thought they could hand out a few fines, train them that way and receive 2.2 mil rather than pay it out to train the obvious.
