    DOL registered person woes

Anyone entering into this industry needs to become a registered person at the Department of Labour.

This is all well and good if the system actually worked.

I handed in my brand new EWSETA certification and recommendation letter from the EWSETA training provider at the Francis Baard St. DOL offices in Pretoria on 10 August 2022.

I took a pic of my entry into their register.

Two months later, after not hearing from them, I visited the offices to inquire if had been registered. I rummaged through their box to no avail. I called the cell number scribbled on a piece of paper stuck to the wall. I was told there is a backlog due to all the applications. I visited the offices 2 more times and called the same number only to be told that August 2022 applications would only be ready end January 2023.

I called again (learned not to visit the offices) and told my application would only be ready end February.

I emailed the Minister of Labour's personal assistant - info on their website. No response.

In desperation I emailed everyone with an email address on their website telling them I was unable to work for 5 months (going on 6) and would sue the minister for loss of earnings and other damages. To my surprise I received a mail from the Chief of Staff and had a mail and call from Pieter Laubscher - Specialist Inspector for Electrical Engineering to tell me my application was incomplete - EWSETA and training provider letter missing.

Long story short - my training provider sent me copies of the originals and I sent these on to Pieter. He now confirms he has everything and my ticket will be ready in 3 - 4 weeks.

I wonder what happened to my original application - they had my application but lost by supporting docs. I wonder at how one has to threaten legal action before anything happens. In theory I was working illegally - had it not been for my IE mentor who signed off on my work I would have been screwed.

I'm writing this to alert anyone along the same journey. Be prepared to fight.

Good Morning, could you please DM me those Email Addresses you used. I am also waiting for any reply of feedback on my progress. Been waiting since Aug, Sep 2022. Shocking that it takes so long. All my documents are in order and no one is getting back to me and no one answers emails or calls.

I'm struggling big time ! Every number I have including Pieter and Todani are not answering calls or emails.

The landline number worked once and no just hangs up.

Does anyone know where the office is of Pieter ??

Waiting since June last year. Last contract was Jan and they said I had to resubmit 2 documents. Then I called and said all is fine and call in 2 weeks... I have been trying for 4 weeks now and can not get any form of contact!

Angry is am understatement and I am so lost. Can't even find their address to kick a door in

    Hi
An email to Chief of Staff put some fire under their asses, but then I DID threaten to sue them for loss of earnings...

Pieter Laubscher 0827746524 - I think he is the chief inspector and probably oversees things as he jumped when Chief of Staff forwarded my email.

Chief of Staff: Khangala Mudumela, Mr 082 957 4251
    Khangala.Mudumela@LABOUR.gov.za

Minister: Thembelani Thulas Nxesi , Mr - Twitter Account https://twitter.com/MpNxesi

    Good luck!

As an aside...when I submitted my Annexure 3 to Krugersdorp DOL it lay there for 2 weeks before someone called me today and said...guess what... it has to go to Pretoria.

I sent all my paperwork through in June last year, and I've been emailing them since January this year. I finally got a reply saying there is a backlog from August.
I am now going to email the other address and see what happens.

Had same issues, nearly 10 months.

Ended up phoning and emailing the above numbers of this thread to the chief of staff and got sorted within 3 weeks.

Rigmarole of note that is for sure...

I wish you luck but at least some good news is I won a few months back by phoning chief of staff from above thread

Attorneys looking for correct contact details- DOL registered persons woes

    Afternoon All

I have been following this thread and I am currently assisting a client in going the legal route of getting his himself registered, because the department is dragging feet. Our offices have sent correspondence to the e-mail addresses in this thread, however, not one address is working anymore. Guess the department must have changed it. Is there anybody that can provide our offices with relevant email addresses, so that we can find the correct individuals.
