Bad payment history, applying for credit

Hi guys, my payment history is very bad but I am nearly done paying off all my debt. If my credit report shows I owe R0.00 will my history deny me credit.. I want to build up my report and credit profile. My score currently is only 642 on my transunion report

Just a question, but you have a very bad history of paying debt ....... now you want to create more debt to build up you credit profile !! Why don't you just chill for a year or so and let things subside, clear your ITC bad name, learn to manage your affairs etc, then apply for more credit ??

My history is from years ago and I have learnt to manage money. It's only recently that Im paying most of my debt off.

I would still suggest you pay it off and then lay low for a year. The simple fact that your debt was years ago and you are only paying it off now shows that you have only realised that you need to have a good credit rating and perhaps want to buy something bigger (Am I right?)
