Hi Dave,

I hope you'll be able to give me some advise.

My brother bought a vehicle through whom he thought was a friend and paid the full purchase price in cash to the seller who was to settle the outstanding vehicle finance with ABSA bank, and hand over the log book to my brother to proceed with change of ownership which he never did.

After months of my brother nagging him for the log book, he got a call from the seller saying that he is sorry, but there is still some funds outstanding on the vehicle which hasn't been paid, and the bank would now like to demand the bakkie back, and is asking that my brother should settle the arrears and then the seller will pay him the money back when he can.

What can we do, it is not our responsibility to pay the arrears and the by the looks of things the bakkie will be taken back and my brother is left with nothing.

Any advise?
