SO DIRECT INSURERS ARE CHEAPER THAN BROKER BUSINESS AS COMMISSION IS CUT OUT? Yeah?

Got a call day before yesterday from guy from the UK who was visiting his Dad in SA.

Dad is retired, lives in a VERY secure complex in Blue Hills, and drives a 1997 BMW and 1999 Nissan Hardbody 2.0.

Son thought his dad was "paying a bit much". Monthly premium was R2,209.15 for cars, house buildings and contents.

    I got 11 alternative quotes.

    The most costly was R1,431.77.

    The cheapest R1,044.78.

Both with wider - MUCH wider - covers than already in place.

Tell me again that Direct Insurers are cheaper .... ???

Not to mention front pages of newspapers, inserts, traffic pointsmen, etc.

6 Direct Insurers are in the top 100 companies in the Adspend area - says enough!

Surely some of the other insurers are in the top 100, though?

Remember that each year you must allow your insurance to re-evaluate your cars especially because they do decline in value and you WILL pay less if do so. My insurance is a bit expensive but my benefits are worth the little extra.

These benefits proofed itself when my mom took my oldest car to go and visit a friend she didn’t close the door properly and the door opened while she reversed, the door ended up looking like a Lamborghini’s door.

I phoned the insurance and explained to them what happened. They didn’t even charged me anything extra just came collected my car. I got no less than 4 quotations and my insurance took the more expensive one because he had a good record and his work was proper.

The car was fixed as good as new and I didn’t pay in anything AND my monthly payment remained exactly the same till I had the car revaluated the next year and it dropped.

Lastly they have a local office in my aria; no other insurance you can find on the net has a real office you can go to locally. So yes I don’t get a “no claim bonus” or stuff like that. But I get to drive to them and talk to them person to person and I get proper service.

I also get the understanding of normal human error, most insurance companies nail you on it.
