You can get a gas operated fridge, they consume approximately 10g of gas an hour I think, so a bottle of gas should run for a month before replacement.

When I lived in the Karoo(Beaufort West) I saw plenty of gas fridges and not one of them used 10Kg/hour. I was asked to convert a few caravan refrigerators to 12V too. The gas fridges require only a small pilot light to work. They are very efficient.

For solar energy , u need solar panel , controller and solar batteries together . But in my opinion , solar lead acid battery is too heavy and bad for the enviroment.
