ps - my auditors used to feel the same way. They have been converted.

The concerns really arise from not being aware of all the features of the product.
I had a browse through QB at my clients office earlier - definitely has some interesting additional features, but to convert from Pastel would be the same as quitting smoking for me

Oh agreed - converting an existing set of books is the pits.

I was merely hopeful you would see how good the product actually is, and find a few features in there that you now wish Pastel would include.

I just love the period flexibility, the way you can drill down into data, the way you can click through to linked transactions, generate some really trick custom reports, the fact that I can slap someone down in front of a pc and have them generating flawless invoices with 5 minutes training, the...

OK - I better stop raving now. My dog is looking at me funny.

Thanks Dave, after the day I have had, the comic relief is most welcome :P

I think our dogs should get together, my bulldog (who sleeps 23 hours out of 24) got woken up by my insane giggling and has now left the office in disgust.

Gosh, for a moment I thought you were talking about Pastel there...

Dave, perhaps we should put the shoe on the other foot - when last did you have a good look at Pastel's features?

Two years ago, although the version was probably about two years old then. So make that roughly a four year old version.

Has it improved much since? because what I saw needed a lot of work to improve intuitive usability.

Hmmm, perhaps a get-together in a coffee-shop of your choice is in order, with laptop in hand?

I think I've got LOTS to show you...

You wouldn't happen to have a copy of Pastel Evolution handy to demo too by any chance?

Dave, my expertise lies in Pastel Xpress, Pastel Partner and not in Pastel Evolution.

Evolution is a completely different animal, with almost zero similarity to the Xpress/Partner packages. Incidentally, Evolution was originally called Brilliant Accounting until Softline bought it out and "evolved" to where Evolution is today.

There is only module in Evolution in which I specialise, and that's the Fixed Assets module, which can be run as a standalone application, with the option to integrate with Partner in order to generate depreciation journals.

Having said all this, I am able to give you a fully functional 30 day trial copy of Evolution. Be aware, though, that Evolution does not come with demo data, unlike Xpress/Partner.
