    Error code 20 - SOLVED

    I use Pastel Xpress V11 - earlier when attempting to open the programme, I received an error code 20.

    For the life of me I cannot find where to restart the Pervasive engine (assuming that's the problem).

    Any advice? My pastel reseller is not available today to assist, and I didn't want to re-install pervasive unnecessarily.

    Find Pervasive in your 'Programs" and "Start Engine"

    But Pervasive should start automatically upon PC startup.

    Is there no pervasive icon in your task bar ? If so just right click on this and you should be able to start and stop the engine.

    That option was not available. I have however re-installed Pervasive, everything is working the way it should now.

    Well done !


    Just a tip...................Do not simply uninstall Pervasive. Use "Pervasive System Analyzer" to do the uninstall as normal uninstall does not remove all the elements and can be a problem afterwards .

    I need assistance with this error ie pervasive error 20
    I have just upgraded my server machine from windows 7 to 10, and needed to reinstall programs including pastel partner version 14
    I normally install this then pervasive - I am familiar with this process and know to set the parameters for pastel installation
    After installation, I try to run/open pastel -it starts to open then give me pervasive error code 20
    "Your pervasive engine is not running or licenced "
    It know it is running (I know how to check this)
    WHen I check the licence admin it says there is a permanent licence and temp licence
    I have a 10 user licence and the licence admin does not show this - shows a 5 user - but normally when I launch pastel I register it and this corrects the licensing too
    But I cannot do this without opening the pastel program
    Somewhere deep in my memory I remember that when reinstalling on the same machine (even if changed OS) one needs to unlicensed or remove the license and re-license
    Have no idea how to do this - can anyone assist?
    I have un-installed and re-installed, cleaned the registry but no luck
    What am I missing ....

    Hi Jon,

    Which version of Pervasive have you installed (V9 or V10), and is it the Workgroup edition or the Client-Server edition?

    Assuming it is the Workgroup edition of V10, did you install it as an application or as a service? Try uninstalling Pervasive and reinstall the other option from what you originally installed.

    Hi Neville
    Pervasive 10.3 workgroup edition
    I have got pastel to work on my server but when workstations log in they get error code 20
    If I go to licence administrator it says
    temporary 5 user expiring 25/05/20
    permanent 1 with no expiry
    BUT I have a 10 user licence so this is not correct and I dont know how to change or correct this
