    Scam, Spam or a Virus?

I have received these emails today at exactly the same time with the titles:

    United service parcels id: 84722
    United service parcels id: 01111

    From the address: adminssu@ups.com

    It reads: Dear customer.

The parcel was sent your home address.
And it will arrive within 3 business day.

More information and the tracking number are attached in document below.

    Thank you.
© 1994-2011 United Parcel Service of America, Inc.

It had an attachment which appears to be a pdf file with the adobe pdf icon, but windows information states that it is an application of about 37kb is size. The company is called: JbfbreyIn software.

I've done a virus scan and nothing turned up. I'm not expecting any deliveries. Just wanted to know if anyone else ever received something like this?

I have received some emails to that effect and deleted them immediately. If I was to receive a UPS parcel I would know about it. I'd also track it on a website, not an attachment.

I would also expect that UPS stands for United Parcel Services and not "United service parcels" as used in the id references. I think the scammer made an oops there.

Probably a small hic-up in the translation for Nigerian into English :-)

You can read up on it here: http://www.precisesecurity.com/rogue...security-2011/
