    cable sizes

anybody know where to get tables for working out cable ratings.
i have to quote on a 850 amp supply. it is in a trench most of the way and 52m long.
i normally have to phone aberdare in joburg. the technical guy worked it out to 3x 240mm 4 core armoured cables.seems a bit of an overkill.would work out to over R 160 000 just for cable.

if it is underground in a trench i also get 3 x 240mm

i am sure you know this already...but just watch the fault levels when selecting equipment and cables for that matter...

i did a project last year and was advised by everyone to use parallel cables but due to the fault level calculated at the 200 kw motor we had to use 1 x 185.
