My Firefox browser has bad days...

Every now and then, for no apparent reason, certain websites (including TFSA and Gmail) don't like being opened properly in my Firefox browser, and I am forced to open them in Internet Explorer, which is yuk and so slow!

Anyone else experience this and any solutions/reasons for it? It seems to come right after a day or so...

Here is what the TFSA site looks like if I try and open it on my Firefox browser:

For some reason Firefox opens up www.fnb.co.za but once login details are entered, it just sits there. Doesn't go to the actual page where you can do transactions, see your balance, buy airtime etc etc

Load IE and it works fine. Weird.

There have been a number of FF updates, I wonder if this has not introduced some bugs?

My version of Firefox on XPPro has no problems with FNB banking site nor with TFSA. Maybe try Opera as an alternative.

What that looks like is a failure to load (or render) the css file. If you're on a shaped internet connection, css files can be deprioritised and I think Firefox is a bit quicker to time out than Internet Explorer when it comes to hung file downloads.

If anyone gives Opera a shot, please let me know how that goes.

Opera works fine with FNB and with TFSA. I only occasionally use it and haven't been through either site with a fine tooth comb however but I've made payments fine and accessed statements.

Edit. Incidentally I have encountered other sites where the advertising causes the page to hang or even causes FF to take a complete dump.

Has anyone tried the new Internet Explorer 9 browser?

I installed it yesterday and initial impressions are good - much faster than IE8 and it has a minimalistic and clean look, much like Google Chrome.

I still prefer FF as one can install so many handy add-ons - I believe FF 4 is about to be launched.

I haven't tried it myself, but I've read some good reviews on it. I think I might just give it a whirl over the weekend.
