Network, one person at a time

I found this comment from Hugh Mcleod's blog to be quite on the mark,

    7. Five years of blogging later, I have learned this to be true: Traffic doesn't matter. Being linked to by A-Listers matters even less. What matters most is building one's network, one person at a time. As Adriana says, "The Network is mightier than The Node".

In particular he is speaking about blogging, but I think the concept can be fit to just about any network. Your experience?

This is the total opposite to what I am trying to achieve today! I am wanting to reach as many receptionists in ZA as I can within a 14 day period. I don't have the time for doing it one person at a time!!!

Any ideas on how I can reach new receptionists 10 at a time?
    Regards

I think that the comment is not so focussed on clients, as the network which can put you in contact with clients.

How about putting an ad in the paper advertising a really good salary? On a more serious note....secretaries seem to love forwarding emails (jokes, ahh cute, etc. type), any chance you can leverage that?

Thanks Duncan - yup we have already started that and it does work - it's just that this is my year for "wildfire" so every Wednesday I spend all day actively looking for ideas, thoughts, innovations!

    Wink Secretaries' Loyalty Club

    Hi Debbie

Have you come across the Secretaries' Loyalty Club before?
    http://www.iir-training.co.za/SLC/index.html

The other assocation I have heard of before, is something like: The Professional Secretaries' Association, although I don't have any more info immediately on hand. I know they publish a full magazine on a regular basis (I think quarterly.)
