How do you submit your UIF returns?

If a company pays their monthly UIF contributions on an EMP201 form through SARS efiling, then what other declarations need to be made to the UIF Commissioner?

The EMP201 form only provides them with a total payment and does not include the break down of each employee which is needed to dertermine eventual benefits.

This info occurs on the UI-19 document. It's a bit vague as to whether this document must be submitted each month or only if there is a change in your employees or their pay.

How are you guys submitting this info?

In days gone by you only had to submit the UI-19 when there was a change in leviable remuneration. Nowadays we're supposed to submit it monthly. I'm sceptical that they're religously processed, though.

Have you tried uFiling? You can do the online equivalent of submitting your UI-19 and make the payments via the EMP201 nowadays.

I haven't tried ufiling. It always seems to refer to payments as well. I could just see myself getting stuck in the trap of having to explain why there were no payments made as they would all go through SARS efiling.

I would have been much happier if I saw something clearly stating on their website that it could be for returns only and that the payments can be done on efiling. But I could find nothing like that. Having to spend a day at a call centre to sort out payment allocations would make me cry.

So you reckon ufiling is the way to go for declarations only?

My road down uFiling has been a bumpy one, but as you'll see on page 2 of that thread, doing the returns via uFiling and paying via the EMP201 works just fine nowadays.
