    Bulk SMS

    Happy Friday everyone!

I have been offered the opportunity to buy into a bulk sms agency and I'm doing some research first - essentially it's a system whereby a client can send personal direct marketing messages to clients and it's much cheaper than traditional marketing.

    Some examples of potential prospects:
Businesses letting their clients know their account is due for payment,
Schools keeping on contact with parents,
Courier/Transport companies keeping in contact with drivers,
Retailers letting clients know about specials, sales, etc,
Car dealerships/doctors, etc reminding clients about their next service, check up and so forth.

This is a recurring income and the returns are reasonable.

Any comments, insights, experiences will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kim

Kim, what do you do for a living?

How will running around looking for customers fit in with your current workload?

we use a bulk SMS system ourself to remind clients of outstanding invoices and it works rather well. But, our volumes are low. We also have a few, but not too many clients, under us on the same system as affiliates and the affiliate return isn't that great.

I'm an accountant and working full time, I know a few good reps that would be willing to do the sales side for a small comm, honestly I am looking for something to start up that will eventually turn over enough so that I can join the ranks of the self employed.

Rudi, the fact that it's working for you is positive feedback - I still have a ways to go with my research though, the biggest concern always is 'how flooded is the market already with companies offering the same service, and of course how competitive is the pricing that this agency is offering compares.

Well, as with just about every product out that there that's got some decent publicity, the market is flooded! But, there'a also always a market for anything. Remember, there's always someone out there who's already done what you're about todo, 10 years ago. And they've already jumped through all the hoops to get their product as successful as possible. And, at the same time, there's always someone, somewhere who doesn't know about the other company(s) or their product(s) and you'll be the first one to sell them your product.

And this is true for just about any product on the market today.

    Hi Kim,

One way is to look at the competition, and see how they sell and at what price. From there you can formulate whether you have a better/cheaper option.
