This evening will mark the 2nd Franktalk discussion that is hosted by The Steve Biko Foundation. The discussion is entitled Franktalk and it is a monthly series. The vision of FrankTalk is there to create an avenue to engage people around salient issues while promoting national dialogue.This is a timely initiative in that discussions around social issues or policy reform are rarely geared toward individuals who are not public sector or developmental professionals. This is particularly true of FrankTalk’s target audience, those aged 20-50. For this generation, many of whom may not have histories of engagement with struggle organizations or current affiliations with developmental institutions, an initiative such as FrankTalk would fill a much needed void, creating a space for young people to engage one another around salient issues and to refine their thinking.

As such, FrankTalk consists of three elements:
- A monthly dialogue series focusing on human rights, democracy & citizenship;
- A quarterly publication featuring contributions by topical experts and lay people;
- Dynamic internet platform sthat will enable regular engagement with policy and current events as well as interaction among participants.

The topic for this edition of Franktalk surrounds the proposed National Health Insurance and all its ramifications. If you would like to attend or find out more information on the discussion series, please e-mail your queries to npillay@sbf.org.za.
