I am sure we are all well familiar about the crime in South Africa. So I cannot mention anything new under the sun, right?
I heard of a case where a four-year old returned home from a private pre-school in a very wealthy neighbourhood and it seemed like just another day. The parents then discovered that evening that the little one had a big bruise on the upper arm. The little was quite clear who inflicted the bruise and it was not a kid. Took it up with the head of the school who was at first extremely defensive and thereafter brutally abusive in emails to the parents. The parents removed the kid from the school immediately and into a new school.
What came to mind:
• The blatant disregard from the head of the school to acknowledge the issue
• Abusive behaviour towards the parents
• No commitment from the head of the school to resolve the situation
• Arrogant attitude “pay and B...off”

What do parents pay for private pre-school services or lack thereof these days? A minimum of R2300.00 per month for “half-day”
Sadly, the parents still do not know why it happened, and they will never know. They realised that their only redress was to vote with their feet.
How does RSA protect its babies and pre-schoolers against these?
