    Accuracy of a vat number

    Hi there

Am I responsible for the accuracy of a vat number that I will put on my sales invoices?

I have a situation were the vat number that was supplied to me was not for the entity that I did work for.

    Please advise

No, you are not. You just have to prove that it is the number that they gave you.

I would suggest you contact the SARS fraud hotline if indeed you suspect fraud.

There is a facility on SARS e-filing where you can verify VAT details.

    Hope that helps,
