    Taskbar

    Some help would be appreciated.

I upgraded from XP Home to XP pro Sp 3.

The problem comes where Windows now looses some of my program icons in the taskbar. ( On the right next to the clock ).

If I re-install the program the icon is there but next day when I restart, the icon goes missing. I tried the "lock taskbar" setting but that does not help.

Perhaps they are recorded as 'inactive' not having been used yet by the new os.

Look at control panel/taskbar and start menu - and change the inactive settings there.

No.................this appears to be a common problem with XP Pro and Vista and needs to be fixed in the registry. I googled this problem and found a few fixes.
I tried several and finally got it to work but for the life of me cannot recall which fix did the job. ( One has to keep on rebooting every time to check the results )
Just a correction: It is actually the "System tray " on the bottom right.

    Hi Marq,

Yes that is what I used but not sure exactly which section or fix I used but I think they all boil down to the same thing.
