    Plot suitable for farming

    Hi all

I am thinking of starting a pig farm on a 5.5 HA plot. Where can I find out if the plot has been zoned or is acceptable for farming.

Or is rule of thum a plot is farming area

Zoning is controlled by the town/city planning department of your municipality, so that is where you would go to enquire from a zoning perspective.

On a slight tangent, I had an enquiry about a pest management program for a proposed piggery in the Cato Ridge area not that long ago. The area was zoned agriculture (so no problems on that front), but he still had to put together a whole environmental impact assessment package for one of the government departments. So I'm afraid it's not just zoning that might be an issue on the regulatory compliance front.
