    Dreaming of a white Christmas?

Not likely to happen in South Africa, of course.

But if you happened to be in the UK on the outskirts of London this morning, this might look familiar:

Of course it does come with a downside (apart from the cold). Getting ready to drive to work comes with some extra chores:

A White Christmas can be seen in SA but in July and not December. Its an awesome site. The Hogsback covered in thick beautiful snow that time of the year is spectacular. The Hotels and Guest Houses in the area offer a White Christmas in July every year. You should go one year and experience the memory of a lifetime. Everybody living in the Eastern Cape, including Tony Flanagan, will witness to the facts that is is memorable.

Had a friend snowbound up in Hogsback a few years ago.

The snowfall happened the night before they were due to leave, and kept them up there for another week!

    Ag shame

Mind you, as long as there are supplies. I was caught with my family on the wrong side of a river with cyclone Demoina many years ago. It was just supposed to be a weekend getaway and we had stocked accordingly. Our stay was extended another 5 days.

Fortunately someone's potato crop washed out somewhere upstream and got deposited on the bank of the river near our impassable drift. Between that and some scavenged freezer supplies food was OK.

However, there are things that are not in everyone's larder....

Well I normally pack extra when I do anything. When I used to work in Botswana there was nothing for a 200km in every direction. We end up being stranded when the car was stolen. Fortunately our supplies was already at the work sight. “To bad they stole the phones” it is a bit difficult to call for help.

But after just two weeks of being missing did our boss decide to come and look for us! When he found us his first question was “It is only 200Km why didn’t we walk?” because they took our shoes... “true story”

in my defense, I was too young to grasp how serious the situation was. of course I can't really remember the incident and may have had full understanding of the situation and just did the natural "crap my pants at scary situation" thing.

Well I spend the first 7 years of my life in hospital so my family had fun without me. Got pictures of some snow falling in our aria a very long time ago. I think it was in the 1980’s so strange things can happen.
