Forensic strike looms
Latoya Newman, IOL, 26 October 2009

Hundreds of medical forensic workers in KwaZulu-Natal are threatening to down tools, jeopardizing police investigations and affecting mourners, mourning families and access to the bodies of dead relatives kept at state mortuaries.

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) said its members in the province) have lodged grievances with the provincial Health Department.

They gave the department three days to return with a favourable response or the sector would come to a standstill.

Nehawu provincial secretary Zola Saphetha said a march staged in Durban on Saturday, which was supported by more than 350 people, was the tip of the iceberg.
