    AN ARTICLE FROM MY NEW BOOK

    HR’S RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE

    ____ 1. Ensure all disciplinary actions are consistent with policy, past precedence and fairly administered.

    ____ 2. Review all of the circumstances that led to the warning notice and approve the appropriateness of the action.

    ____ 3. Maintain a 30-, 60-, 90- (or more) day reference file to ensure supervisory follow-up on warning notices.

    ____ 4. Review and thoroughly investigate supervisory recommendations involving disciplinary suspension or discharge and approve or disapprove the recommendations prior to action being taken.

    ____ 5. Approve any suspensions and conduct the required investigation.

    ____ 6. Maintain a record of all discharges by department and type.
