    Project Management

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and just wanted to know where can I go for a short course in Project Management. I'm based in Durban.

Funnily enough I got an email in my spam folder a week or so ago about a project management course offer. Dumped it, unfortunately. I do remember they were a Services SETA accredited training company.

If no-one else comes up with some information here, perhaps try Services SETA and see if they're aware of the course and who you could contact.

Funnily enough, that email arrived in my spam box again yesterday.

The Project Management course is offered by Imsimbi Training - there's one in Durban from 23-25 November 2009. The spiel says "This course covers unit standards 120372 and 120379 at NQF level 4 with 13 credits."

Whilst I'm not a fan of rewarding unsolicited emails, this might be what you're looking for.

Just a serious suggestion that you make a decision of what methodology in project management you wish to study. Prince 2 is currently imo the best methodology for project management other than building and construction, in which case PM Bok is the methodology you wish to study.

This is important due the fact that SETA accredited institutions still follow the PM bok methodology which is designed for the building industry. If you wish to study toward project management outside that industry rather go with a training institution that are approved to present the Prince 2 subjects. You can even buy a book and simply write the exams directly with Prince 2. That is the real internationally excepted qualification in PM.

BOTI offers a series of public project management courses in Durban and Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The purpose of this course is to get you up to speed with the fundamentals of the project management process and upskill you to become an effective project team member. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the nature of a project and learn about the types of structures that are found in a typical project environment and what processes and activities are required to manage a project.
