Brand marketing and the "new media"

I came across some interesting reading this week in the form of some manifestos. One of the interesting ones was The Hughtrain from the author of gapingvoid.com.

There are some interesting thoughts about brands and marketing strategy, along with some funny cartoons. I think it is well worth the (quick) read.

THE HUGHTRAIN: "THE MARKET FOR SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN IS INFINITE."

We are here to find meaning. We are here to help other people do the same. Everything else is secondary.

We humans want to believe in our own species. And we want people, companies and products in our lives that make it easier to do so. That is human nature.

Read the full Hughtrain on gapinvoid.com
He recently also released the Hughtrain MkII, a more succinct version.

Aaargh! Trying to work, but thought I'd take a quick skim during a break.

And then I got caught up in The Kryptonite Factor....

Note to self - read again slowly tonight. Looks interesting.

    That's

Too much work and not enough play makes Dave a dull boy.

    more teasers

One of the things that Hugh Macleod does is draw cartoons on the back of business cards (which he gives away for free under the creative commons license). Here are some "teasers" from the Hughtrain.
