Norri is probably the one to contact if no-one else here has tried it out. He was talking about putting together a facebook advertising seminar.

Vincent also made a post about how to get $100 free facebook advertising. I can't remember researching it myself, or it was a paid membership deal and I lost interest in following up.

Anyway, some pointers in the meantime for what it's worth.

I've used facebook before. On average I got 2.00% conversion rate on clicks. I stopped as the rate per click soared after they advertised to get adverts...

Keep in mind your target market, and make sure you look at the facebook link Dave mentioned.

I'm currently using Facebook advertising and it's doing really well for our website. The bounce rate is incredibly low, the percentage of new visits really high and the time spent on the site much higher than the average.

I would highly recommend using this advertising platform.

It depends what industry you are in. If you are in finance, for example, it probably wouldnt be useful to advertise on facebook as I dount a lot of financial people sit on facebook. If you are advertising something more creative though, then facebook is a good way forward. Look at the market for facebook, and then decide if it fits in with who you are trying to target.

    Facebook marketing

    Hi Guys,
I've been having great success with the Facebook platform in general for driving traffic to my site. You cannot rely on pay per click advertising alone for generating clicks. I own a few pages and groups that are working great. My one: http:www.facebook.com/rentaskill has grown to over 43 000 members and is the largest fan page for the website catagory in Africa. It is a great way to interact with my users. Facebook has become very viral so every time someone joins the page it is shown on all their friends home pages. Every time they interact with anything posted on the page the same thing happens. Social marketing and networking has a far better conversion rate than pay per click advertisements.
    Best regards,
