    Undelivered Parcel - Virus Alert

    This was sent to us.

I personally don't like sending these on, but it seems to be legitimately from D.H.L.

    Virus Alert

A fraudulent email has been circulating across the internet and via e-mail.

The message normally states that there is a problem with a DHL package and includes an attachment that may or may not contain a computer virus. The attachment is usually named “DHL_DOC.zip

    See sample below:

    Subject Line: “DHL Tracking Number”

    Hello!
We were not able to deliver postal package you sent on the 14th of March in time because the recipients address is not correct.
Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our office.
Your personal manager: Betty Atkinson (This name changes on some of the emails)
    Customer Service: 1-800-CALL-D
Fax: 888-221-6211 (Fax number of “DHL Office of the President”)
DHL International, Ltd. All Rights Reserved.

There is also a bogus tracking number in the subject line of the emails.

There is no indication that the recipients of the mail were specifically DHL customers. The distribution list is likely a massive Spammer list, which by virtue of its size/scope, has reached some DHL customers and employees in parts of the world.

Please delete the entire email and be advised that the package referred to does not exist and that DHL delivery services are operating normally. “

Do not open zip attachments in emails unless you are absolutely expecting the attachment. If you're not sure whether it is genuine or not, email back saying you can't open the attachment - please send in a pdf.
