Any opinions on the way low- cost housing developments in Cape Town are progressing (or not?).

I think that there needs to be more emphasis placed on the development process and maybe getting the design professionals involved. Developers seem to think that they can put together four walls and roof and that constitutes the delivery of good respectable housing. I don't think so. I really think more needs to be done.

Design professional like architects and urban planners and landscapers can bring a human element into the whole process as well as create houses that are sustainable (eco-friendly), long lasting and instils dignity to the homeowner.

What other ideas or opinions for improving housing in cape town do you have? I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!
