I have a 3G MyMeg bundle from Vodacom for over 4 years now...absolutely no problems....ever....I use my Omnia as modem to connect...I personally don't consider any other alternative for 3G from other service providers at this stage...been to Neotel/MTN/Telkom..no thanx...not yet...
I completely disagree. I've have two Samsung cellphones and their modems doesn't work anymore. the first one lasted for about four months before it failed but the J750 didn't even last two months.
Needless to say, i'll never buy another samsung.

About all these blokes calling me about products i don't need or stuff i already have, i just leave them hanging.
If i want or need something i buy it from a place i trust. Not waiting for some turd with an attitude to phone me and sell it to me.
I guess that's why i don't get as many calls lately.

Frankly Vodacom sucks. The things I will rather do then do business with them includes but is not limited to killing myself using nothing but toilet paper and urine. There services are really that bad. Please press 1 then a million other buttons so that we can hang up on you when you get to an operator. I think operators get a kick out of just hanging up. But yes Telemarketing does have some good qualities you can just hang up the phone. You are not obligated in any way to listen to a word.

I just place them on speaker and let my Parrot do the talking. One of its favorite words is “Why” and it sounds human. The poor person on the other end just keeps on explaining. I really must put it to video it is really funny stuff.

    @ Loman

As my handset's come on contract and are replacable within warranty, and given the temporary nature of cell phones having a general shelf life of about 2 years (and warranties also of 2 years)...whether Samsung/Nokia/Sony Erricson etc etc...had 'em all....personally I don't mind the frequent infrastructure collapse I experience during the contractual warranty period of IC chips and other components within the little beasts(They take after thier Father...lmao)....as long as Vodacom keeps me running...I don't really care how long it lasts. To me they're consumables....and all have problems/glitches....what'd we expect?...even the greatest operating systems come with patch after patch (usually "updates" for ease of conscience sake)...these poor little balls of fire stuffed full of electronic gadgetry running Windows, embedded modems, full speaker systems, 5 MP cameras etc etc......sure beats the dongle....

I also meditate once one becomes a huge corporate giant with a huge monopoly, who cares about the client?...go ahead and post "thoughts of morality and great service dreams"...or complain about poor service...."it's your right"....you've called the Contact Center....you know the truth! It sucks...just like our Government, Leaders...and TV shows...but it keeps the masses entertained...

I dont see it changing for anyone at this stage....better the Devil you know?

I feel so excluded now Francois. Still I have a question Francois; Is the quality of goods important? Clearly not because that is the way things are right. See on a beautiful clear night when the stars is bright and so perfectly scattered trough out that black cloth that hangs over our planet I sometimes catch a satellite with my old telescope. Now some of them are not working but some of them have been working for a very long-time. Now the reason why your phone gets old is not due to its flaws it is commercialisation aimed to make you feel “Yes now I need a new phone”. My mobile is about 3 years old now and I dropped it and it broke... That is the only thing that was ever wrong with it. It had me as an owner. Now give it some thought if technology is only made to last two year it is because we allow it. If we said ok I am never getting another “make model phone” again! Because they are crap and others follow by example then that company can do one of two things: Option one is facing massif losses Option two is produce a better phone? Or we can go on and say jip it is that time of the year again these blasted phones don’t last! The truth is the power is in the masses a consumer strike can be more devastating than an economic recession to a company. We have the power the fact is we don’t use it.

Agreed 100%...Man does not use what you believe to be his "power"....because to me, He no longer controls his choices...they control Him.....(unless you free?)

"I feel so excluded now Francois."

Excluded from what Insulin? You're still logged in?

I understand your noble sentiments....and it does sadden me....

My point was "Better the Devil you know."

The devil never has been overthrown by Man. In Man's most greatest negotiations for a better "anything" by striking and revolting, the casualties are numbered as martyrs...and thier reward is in the after life...but the evil continues....the current situation always seems closer to the end, doesn't it? Everything is getting worse/intense...as I expect.

"The truth is the power is in the masses a consumer strike can be more devastating than an economic recession to a company. We have the power the fact is we don’t use it."

...the above illustrates why we don't attempt to destroy Him....it's not for us to do.

...as a technological consumer...I use today's technology until tomorrow when tomorrows has become "todays"...then yesterdays bores me as the progression of better quality devices/features/benefits excites my temporary being as a technological scientist...as it's only to be experienced in the flesh anywho...

...so I upgrade coz it's like a feeding cycle...every so often I want a freshly cooked meal....nothing to do with how I treat my handset(or burn up my food)...had some last 6 years...others 3 days....whaeva....time is moving...and I would like to experience each moment and it's achievements....as I labour...I should "enjoy" the fruits thereof....so, too me, it's not an issue or mission to switch every 2 years...whether commercial propaganda or just time erroding novelty...it's like paying my TV licence...

That's why I suggested to Dave to grab a handset and use it as modem...works for me...and is a perpetual cycle to which I am accustomed...I see absolutely nothing wrong with someone buying a handset and keeping it tidy for 10 years and using only that one....and I can naturally only suggest what I personally have experienced works...progressive living is a matter of personal definition...we all seem to be persuing the part of progress we personally enjoy experiencing....

That's one possible answer to your question....
