The advantage of 'blue light brigades' is that anyone following the particular 'fat cat' knows exactly where they are or are going.

a question...if they are travelling at 180 km per hour and you follow behind them at the same speed is the punishment for them the same as it is for you?

if there was a speed trap and you are travelling at the same speed as them would the police pull you over and let them thru if they are in front of you?

if a person is travelling on a motorcycle and the person is travelling at lets say 250 km per hour and came up behind one of them do you think they would make way for the motorcycle?

yip i know these questions are a joke but so are these blue light brigades

In light(no pun intended) that the ministers achieve nothing and dont really get any bills passed, they are no threat to anyone - no need to kill them off - let sleeping dogs lie, so no need for protection. As above all the noise is actually the opposite of VIP protection. An excellent example is movie star and pop stars - you can spot their bodyguards a mile away(even without the earpiece and sunglasses) most well trained bodyguards of presidents are hardly visible so much so that even if you ask a person what the bodyguard of a president looks like, and a president who appears on TV everyday, they will not know.

In terms of what constitutes an emergency - nothing!! Bad planning, lack of respect for time and punctuality do not constitute an emergency.

There was a law(not sure if it was a statute or common law presumption) that allows for government officials to break a law, provided it was neccessary(summarized version) - One case actualluy delay with a minister who was trapped speeding. His defence was he was en route to some meeting and if he had not been on time it posed a threat to the country hence he was entitled to break the law!!!(This was quite some time ago , maybe 1970). I believe this has since been ruled unconstitutional, and if not should be. Equality before the law is a basic fundamenatl right in terms of the Bill of Rights.
