    Rip this apart for me...

I would be grateful for any thoughts on the sales copy and
    sales process for this site:

    http://toprankingsites.co.za

You don't have to sign up (if you don't want to... )

The free report is at http://toprankingsites.co.za/thanks.html

I'd be interested in what you think about the pricing as well.

I don't have much in the way of testimonials or examples as yet,
but I will add these to the report as I get them.

The only phrase that has me grimacing a little is:
At Top Ranking Sites we will get your website ranked on the front page of the results, and usually in the top 5!
That's a guarantee that can easily bite back through no fault of your own. And what does happen if you don't make it?

I think the rest is great.

    Thanks, Dave.

It is a bold claim. But I do offer a money back guarantee, so if I don't perform, the client can always fall back on that.

Having said that, the search engine results for the local businesses I'm targeting suggest that it shouldn't be too difficult.

I have a sample site up: http://pooljohannesburg.co.za if anyone would care to have a look...

For now that's certainly true in most industries (I really thought long and hard before even raising the issue because of just that point). However, if someone comes to you wanting to sell computers, for example, you're not going to find it nearly as easy. And if/when you get an approach in a highly competitive field, I can just bet you'll be dealing with a real A type personality.

Why box yourself in with a guarantee you really don't need to give? Testimonials and word-of-mouth will be just as effective if not more so over the medium term.

I have removed the first-page guarantee from the "report".

How does one avoid having to work with Type A personalities?
Some of them are quite good at hiding it until they don't get
    what they want...

The last point I make in the report is this:

"This amazing offer is only available for a limited time. Remember...
We can only work with one business like yours in your area. The
question is...Will it be you? or will it be one of your competitors?"

The idea was to give me a way to filter out clients and industries
    I was uncomfortable with.

True, and you can't avoid them. I reckon don't even try avoiding them either. They can be very good clients. The point is with preparation you don't end up on the wrong side of them anyway, so it's not a problem.

Whenever we end up working through problems with a tricky client here, my motto is "It's the difficult things that make the easy stuff easy." It raises and refines our game.

It'll be interesting how the click through approach works out. Conventional theory is you lose people at every click, but I suppose at least those that get to the end will definitely be prospects. If you set up the sequence as a pipe to goal in Google Analytics you'll get some interesting feedback I'm sure.

Aside: The Send a copy to yourself? text doesn't line up with the checkbox (IE).

Darn. My awesome CSS skillz don't extend to fixing nasty IE/Firefox incompatibilities, so I've taken the easy way out and removed the "Send a copy to yourself" option.

The easiest way to sort out FF vs IE issues is to run the page through the W3C validator - although getting a handle on the error reports can take a bit of getting used to. If the problem area is the only error on the page it's reasonably painless. But it can be quite pedantic about stuff that doesn't seem to have serious consequences and that in turn screws up reporting on problems further down the page.

Still - really handy once you're used to it.
